just a place for me to comment on the very stupid things i discover around the world
Wow! Another man was shot by Washington State police officers today. This is crazy. There have been something like three or four killings by police officers this past week in Washington and none of the people had a gun. It is amazing to me that cops are killing people like this. They are acting as judge and jury for people. Now don’t get me wrong - I Read the rest of this entry »
I just read an article about Obama and how he became unpopular. The article, and the comments that followed afterward, were just stupid! Very, very stupid! I am not going to go into all of the things the article touched on, but I will say this. Bush was in office for 8 years. It took 8 years to work our way into a hole. It Read the rest of this entry »
Lavena Johnson died. This fact is refutable. The problem is that the government initially ruled that her death was a suicide. Her family, however, wouldn’t let things go. After the body came home, they saw that suicide wasn’t the likely cause of Lavena’s death. She had a black eye, acid had been poured on her and she had a bullet wound. Read the rest of this entry »
I’m so sick of marginal women having children and then killing them! That is why I have sad over and over again that we need some sort of test to screen these people BEFORE they are allowed to have kids. I know it sounds harsh, but it really would be best. You can’t become an accountant without a passing a test. You can’t Read the rest of this entry »
I love Twitter, but I just came across a site that sent chills up and down my spine and not in a good way. This site allows you to see where people are tweeting from. Sounds great - unless you are tweeting from the comfort of your home and don’t want people to know where you are! The site is called http://icanstalku.com/ Read the rest of this entry »
I thought I had seen it all - or very close to all. The Associated Press reminded me this morning that I have not seen it all. I woke up this morning and followed my daily routine of reading through the news in the US and around the world. I discovered that 6 children drowned in Louisiana. As I perused the article, my sadness turned to stark horror and then outrage. I was outraged over the racially charged statements made by the reporter writing the article. The article stated the following.
Shreveport Assistant Fire Chief Fred Sanders said he believed the victims, ages 13 to 18, included three brothers from one family and a sister and two brothers from another.
“They were out here with some adults. But unfortunately, neither the children nor the adults could swim,” he said.
Swimming skills can be scarce among African-Americans like the teens in this tragedy. A study commissioned by the sports governing body USA Swimming found 69 percent of black children had low or no swimming ability. Segregation kept blacks out of public and private pools for decades and the disparity continues because many poor and working class children have limited access to pools or instruction.
I hate the iPhone! It is a well-made phone, but Apple’s control measures are Draconian at best. I’m tired of being told what apps I can and cannot have on my phone. I’m tired of being unable to tether my laptop to my phone. I’m tired of not being able to make phone calls in areas where other people (specifically Verizon’s Read the rest of this entry »
I am so sick of Apple! While I have to accept the fact that the company makes good products, I absolutely abhor the control that Steve Jobs wants to have over every facet of the way the products are used. One thing that really bothers me is the rejection of Flash. I understand Steve’s points about Flash, but if I want to drain my Read the rest of this entry »
What is wrong with people? Specifically, what is wrong with General McChrystal. He must be crazy! Why do I say this? Well it should be obvious. He is/was a commanding general commanding troops in a war. Why in the world would you make the decision to talk to a magazine like Rolling Stone? That has to be the most ignorant thing I’ve ever heard of! Doesn’t he have something better to do with Read the rest of this entry »
I just read a statement attributed to Senator Robert Ford that I think is very stupid. Here is what he was quoted as saying.
“Vic Rawl had money, but he didn’t have enough. He wasn’t able to identify himself with black voters,” Ford said. “No white folks have an ‘e’ on the end of Green. The blacks after they left the plantation couldn’t spell, and they threw an ‘e’ on the end.”
He was discussing the fact that Alvin Greene, a jobless black guy in South Carolina, was able to beat a well known Democrat. The problem is that many people think that this guy was a plant by Republicans looking to make sure that their guy would be able to win by defeating Mr. Greene in the primary this fall. The problem with Senator Ford’s blatantly racist statement is that he is totally wrong.
First of all, if the blacks “couldn’t spell”, as he puts it, then how would they KNOW what an e was? That makes the whole statement just stupid. Also, he doesn’t seem to think about the fact that Al Green is a famous singer with no e at the end. What adds to his stupidity is that there are white people with the last name of Green. Ashley Green is a model. Gerald Green is a member of the Georgia House of Representatives and he is white. There is also another Gerald Green who is a basketball player and, although he is black, he doesn’t spell his name with an e on the end.
Senator Ford, you are a very stupid. I just thought you should know.
