Whew! There truly are idiots born every minute! I think people who protest over stupid issues when there are considerably bigger issues to deal with are very stupid! In fact, they aren’t just stupid. they are very, very stupid. 12 Klansmen decided to hold a rally before an LSU-Ole Miss game held in Mississippi because the school changed the words to the song Dixie. I guess they thought that showing up to a game with Black players on both teams was an intelligent idea. I guess the fact that the song was changed assaulted their collective pride.

I can understand that (note the sarcasm). It must be hard for them to see past their waistlines down there. Why do I say that? Well Mississippi is the most overweight state in the nation. You can read about that here. Mississippi has the largest population of school age children living in poverty. Mississippi has the highest poverty rate of any state in the country. Yet, even with all of the bad things going on in Mississippi, the Klan thinks it is a great idea to protest at a college game meant to uplift spirits. I find that incredible! Absolutely incredible.

I know that there are people who don’t like Black people and people who don’t like people who are not White, but I think that there are so many things that people in Mississippi need to be focused on above and beyond race. We are talking about basic quality of life issues here. I don’t know if the fact that the state is so poor rallies the racist White people together a little more than would be apparent in other places. Perhaps it is just the fact that Mississippi is in the deep south and has such a rich history of racism. Whatever it is, the people of Mississippi need to invest more time in making Mississippi a better place and less time worrying about the color of a person’s skin or the lyrics in a racist song - ESPECIALLY given the fact that there are Black players and Black people attending Ole’ Miss.

Hating any particular person because of nothing more than the color of their skin is just so incredibly stupid. There are more important issues facing the world AND Mississippi. Read about the protest here.
