You know what? It’s hard being a parent sometimes. Sometimes you have to make choices and decisions that would have given King Solomon headaches. There are some decisions and choices, however, that are really no-brainers. Luis Alonso Alberto-Zambrano is going to learn this the hard way.

Luis Alonso Alberto-Zambrano, who is 25, was arraigned yesterday in Wilmar, Minnesota on a gross misdemeanor charge of child neglect. Luis left a five year old girl alone to care for two babies. The little girl didn’t know how to feed the babies so she opened the door to the apartment she was left in and started crying in the hall. A woman passing by went in and stayed with the three children for 30 minutes. After no adult came, the woman called the police. It was 10:30pm!

Now, I know that kids don’t come with a manual, but there are some things that are so basic that only an idiot wouldn’t know them. Those things are what I call the common principles of having a kid. One common principle is to not leave babies alone or under the care of another baby. Leaving young kids alone is never smart. If you need to go somewhere and you have a child to watch that you can’t take with you, then don’t go! To do otherwise means that you are a very stupid parent.
