Do Twitter Users Realize People Can Tell Where They Are When They Send Tweets?
I love Twitter, but I just came across a site that sent chills up and down my spine and not in a good way. This site allows you to see where people are tweeting from. Sounds great - unless you are tweeting from the comfort of your home and don’t want people to know where you are! The site is called http://icanstalku.com/ and it allows people to know where you are. How many of you feel really comfortable with that? Instead of going on and on about this site, I’m going to let you be the judge.
Being geo-tagged with your ACTUAL ADDRESS while you tweet is just plain stupid on so many levels for so many reasons!
UPDATE:
FYI - Just so I am clear, this service posts your ACTUAL ADDRESS in many instances. Going back and forth between this site and Twitter can show you what I am talking about. Pull up both sites and go look at the Twitter account of a poster with the address showing. You will see that the person does NOT tweet their address, however, the address is on I Can Stalk U. Here is a picture of what I am talking about.

At first I thought you were talking about Twitter’s ‘add a location to your tweets’ feature which I have turned off. I guess this is a separate issue by sending pictures from our phones. I had no idea that Geo-Tagging info on smart phones was sent with the picture. That is scary. My phone isn’t on the list where they show how to disable geo-tagging but I’ll figure it out. Thanks for the post.

This is completely a separate issue and it IS a scary issue. I see what you mean about my post. I updated it to show EXACTLY what I am talking about. This issue is really important because I don’t think a lot of people understand that their address information is being displayed openly on the web. Be safe Brian. It is a scary world out there for all of us.
