I’m upset - again! I came across a news story on a local online news site. Clicking the story sent me over to the website of a news station. This station has done something that I consider highly offensive. Listen to the story and tell me what you think.

Kalum Worsham was pulled over for allegedly doing 100mph while on the phone. He had a sleeping 4 year old little girl in the backseat. OK. This guy will have his day in court and the world goes on right? Well the people who put the story online PUT HIS ADDRESS ONLINE TOO!!! What? The story has been picked up by news outlets across the country. This information has been distributed all over the place now. I simply don’t agree with this.

First of all, in America you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Therefore, until Kalum Worsham is officially convicted of this crime, he is considered to be innocent. I have read about murders, rapes and all kinds of other things. Never once have I seen an alleged suspect have their personal information put out there like this. What if some crazy person gets angry because of what he did and decides to kill him and his family? Putting someone’s information out there like this is just crazy! The guy hasn’t been convicted yet and even if he had been convicted, you just don’t know who else lives in the suspects home. What if it turns out that the police officer’s equipment was faulty and the guy is innocent. Now because of some careless reporter, this guys information has been spread to news agencies far and wide. What if this happened to you?

I think we need to hold news agencies accountable when they print something like this. If it were me, I would make a federal case out of it - literally. I would sue to establish legal precedent. To the reporter who published this story with Kalum Worsham’s name, you are very stupid!!!! Why don’t you publish YOUR name!!!

Here is a link to the story.
