WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE STUPID STUFF GOING ON IN THE WORLD
You just have to love the backwards policies of the United States. I love this country but I just have to say “DAMN!” when I’m faced with the extreme hypocrisy of our leaders. Look at the US policy of not allowing openly gay people to join the military AND their policy of putting people out when they say they are gay. You mean to tell me that you would rather deploy a person twice when they don’t want to be deployed again instead of replacing that person with someone else because the replacement is gay??? WTF?? Is a gay person who wants to serve in the military less honorable simply because they are gay? People wonder why parents try to stop their kids from going into the military. With leaders like this it is not hard to figure out.
This reminds me of how the government used to want to keep blacks out of the military. They used the EXACT same arguments to do so – lack of cohesion, blah, blah, blah. Then, after so many white soldiers started dying, they decided to start using blacks for the most dangerous jobs in the military. Now, there are blacks in every area of the military. What happened to all those arguments about lack of cohesion in the unit?
Military recruitment is way down and the people in charge still want to keep gays away! Well I tell you what. The people in the military who want to get out need to start being a little smarter. If I was a person in the military and I wanted to avoid being deployed again, I would simply say I was gay. Maybe if enough people started doing that the government would begin to see how stupid their policies are. I watched a John Stossel report in which one of the military leaders openly acknowledged that the policy was discriminatory, yet he continued to support it!!! Why are we OK with this? I’m not gay, but I believe in a person’s right to do whatever they want to do. If heterosexual people had everything worked out, we would never have divorces and there wouldn’t be any children in foster care. I have lived long enough to see a black president-elect in the US. I hope I live long enough to see a day when people are judged on their character and not on their sexual orientation or the color of their skin or any other stupid judgment. The way we are right now is just very, very stupid.

What about the rights of the straight people? It must be uncomfortable for them sharing such close quarters, including showers with those who may bet hinking of them in a sexual manner.
This argument does not address this issue, it’s very one-sided.
Just to set the record straight, I am all for gay rights. I have NO problem with gays, I have close friends who are gay but the military is a whole other story. When you are in the military you give up your rights for the good of the mission. It is not about you anymore but about the team as a whole. Those who have not experienced it can not understand it.

Good of the mission????? Kathy you and people who think like you are what is wrong with America. I mean that very seriously. WHY OH WHY is it that Americans are so caught up in “MAYBE SOMEBODY IS LOOKING AT ME IN THE SHOWER???” When other supposedly less advanced countries have gay people in the military????? Why don’t we put all of the heterosexual people who cheat on their spouses while in the military out of the military? Why don’t we put all of the people who lie out of the military? Why don’t we put all of the blacks out of the military? Do you remember a time in this country when black people were not allowed to be in the same barracks as whites? Why was that? It was because white people felt that blacks were inferior. Now we feel the same way about gays. Get off of it Kathy! America is one of the only countries that does not allow gay people to give their lives for the country they love. If someone has a problem with the thought that someone might be looking at them in the shower, then THAT PERSON needs to grow up - NOT the gay person!!!!!

admitting gays into the military is stupid
gays are cowards and effeminate and not suited for battle.
imagine soldiers going after each other’s dicks - plain stupid.
gays make for a weak military and the USA will be the laughing stock of the world.
too much freedom will destroy the US military.
there are some things that simply are incompatible with combat, and that is gays dancing down the front lines of war. stupid.

reed, you are an idiot - plain and simple. Gay people are ALREADY serving in all of the major military systems all over the world! ALL OVER THE WORLD!! The US military is BEHIND the times. Gay people live in this country just like every one else. They deserve the right to serve. Your sexual orientation should not determine if you are or are not able to serve.
