OK. So John McCain, in his ever present desire to get those die hard Hillary supporters that can’t get over it and move on, has decided to select a woman as his running mate. Now I have no problems with him selecting a woman, but I really do have a problem with him selecting someone like Sarah Palin. She is the perfect example of hiring someone just because she is a woman and I have to say that I am really truly insulted! You certainly cannot say that she is the most qualified woman he could have picked. You certainly cannot say that she has been a governor for very long. In fact, she was pregnant with her 5th child for half the time that she was a governor. This pick absolutely stinks. McCain is against affirmative action because he believes it isn’t necessary yet he applies an ‘affirmative-actionesque’ action to picking his VP.

Now some people may say that I’m being unfair to Palin. Let me first start by telling you that I’m a woman. So I certainly am not anti-woman. Now let me also tell you that my chosen field is Computer Science - a field that is certainly dominated by men. In fact, rarely have I worked with other women on my teams because there weren’t any. So I am the last person who would come down on a woman in a  field traditionally reserved for men, but here is why I say that McCain is simply pandering here.

  • McCain made much over Obama being as he put it ‘lacking in experience’, so if he REALLY felt that way about Obama, can you explain why he would pick someone with WAAAYYYYYY LESSSS experience than Obama on EVERYTHING??????? Just stop and think about that really. He didn’t respect Obama’s experience so do you really think he respects Sarah Palin’s experience?

As a side note, I’m going to add this because it needs to be said. McCain is a notorious cheater. He cheated on his ex-wife to be with Cindy McCain among others. In fact, look at the significant age gap between John McCain and Cindy McCain. Sarah Palin is young and attractive. She and McCain look like the biggest odd couple. Am I talking about Cindy & John or John & Sarah? Yes! Anyway,  let’s move on.

OK. So he selected this woman in part to capture the real anti-Obama women who can’t bring themselves to vote for him. Now let me ask you something. Do you just want a woman in office in some capacity? As Hillary put it, were you just in it for her? Sarah Palin is about anti-Hillary as you can get. Sarah was a former beauty pagent contestant. She came in second. She has 5 children. FIVE KIDS!!!! (I’m a mom. I have one. My hat really goes off to her on that one!) Her last child has Down Syndrome and she knew it before he was born. She is STAUNCHLY anti-abortion. STAUNCHLY ANTI-ABORTION!! She also likes guns. I like guns too so I’m not being judgemental about that. My point is that she is about as anti-Hillary as you can get. I also honestly don’t see her staying in a marriage if her husband runs out and has several affairs. I think Sarah would kick his a$$. Allegedly, she tried to have the ex of her sister fired from his job as a state trooper. She is about as anti-Hillary as you can get. Yet McCain is trying to grab some of those pro-Hillary people. Are you gals going to fall for that???? Are you so pro-Hillary that you would take a woman who is the polar opposite of Hillary? Is it just about the vagina? I have been going around looking at different blogs and I’m amazed at how some Democrats are so happy because McCain selected a woman and willing to switch sides because of it. Ladies we aren’t that stupid. We loved Hillary, but Sarah Palin is no Hillary. You and I both know that she didn’t want to be number two! I guarantee you that! What woman would??? I don’t give a damn about what she said to the media. I’m talking about what she felt inside. Should Obama have picked her? If I was in his shoes I wouldn’t have. Just think about it in your own job. If you had to fight someone else for a promotion and you won, would you turn around and select a person who said bad things about you as your number two person? I don’t care what your initial response is to that question. Deep down on the inside where it counts, I know you would be thinking the same thing I would be thinking…. HELL NO!!!

Look up the comments that John McCain has made about the vice presidency. He thinks the vice president’s job is to go to funerals. His words not mine. So what does that really say about his choice? He could afford, in his mind, to select her because, according to his own words, the position really isn’t essential. In my opinion, it is so essential that I would think long, hard and twice about voting for McCain with Sarah as the number two. McCain is 72 years old. When my grandmother was 72 she was slightly crazy, set in her ways and loads of fun. She was not flexible in her approach about many things because she was so used to a certain way and she had some health problems. She died at 79, yet she was sharp right up until the end. Would I have wanted her to be president at 72, even though she was a smart lady? Two words….HELL NO!!!!

I’m not sure what will happen in the future. People kept saying that Obama would never win the nomination right up until his speach a few nights ago. Some people are still saying it….sorry Hillary. We will see how this all plays out. However you feel about Obama, please don’t vote for McCain just because of Sarah. Ladies, our votes really count, but we have to make them count for something great. Sarah I’m sorry. You are no Hillary. I wish you the best.
