Why is it that people expect wild animals to be tame? Tilikum, a killer whale on display at Seaworld, killed a trainer and people are acting surprised. You wouldn’t go to Africa and go up to a Lion. You wouldn’t go to Yellowstone and try to talk to a bear. You wouldn’t go to a rattlesnake den and try to “connect” with a snake on a spiritual level would you? So why would anyone jump into a tank with a 12,000 pound killer whale and expect the animal to not act up at different points in time? This is a wild animal people! A bad day for a 12,000 pound animal can end in disaster for any human stupid enough to be around the animal. I am so SICK of people acting like the animal is doing something strange when it kills someone. Having a damn human riding around on your back IS strange to a whale. Chomping on something nice and chewy, like a human, who has made the decision to come into your space is NORMAL. THAT is exactly what I would expect an animal like Tilikum to do.

Maybe I’m being insensitive again, but I just think it is so crazy that we don’t want to treat animals like animals. We want to display our dominance and control over them, but the simple truth is that we can’t control them. They are WILD animals. Please not the word WILD. They do what they do. Humans need to respect that. This reminds me of the Grizzly Man. He spent a great deal of time trying to make the bears his friends. In the end, he discovered that bears are WILD animals. Wild animals kill. So, to all of you would be hunters out there,  if you don’t want to be attacked by a wild animal then stay away from them. Give them the proper respect and let them go their way in peace. They aren’t meant to be trained by us, dressed up by us, smacked around by us, made to jump on little chairs by us, made to ride us around or anything else we can think of to have them do. People need to wake up and stop being very stupid!
