I just read a statement attributed to Senator Robert Ford that I think is very stupid. Here is what he was quoted as saying.

“Vic Rawl had money, but he didn’t have enough. He wasn’t able to identify himself with black voters,” Ford said. “No white folks have an ‘e’ on the end of Green. The blacks after they left the plantation couldn’t spell, and they threw an ‘e’ on the end.”

He was discussing the fact that Alvin Greene, a jobless black guy in South Carolina, was able to beat a well known Democrat. The problem is that many people think that this guy was a plant by Republicans looking to make sure that their guy would be able to win by defeating Mr. Greene in the primary this fall. The problem with Senator Ford’s blatantly racist statement is that he is totally wrong.

First of all, if the blacks “couldn’t spell”, as he puts it, then how would they KNOW what an e was? That makes the whole statement just stupid. Also, he doesn’t seem to think about the fact that Al Green is a famous singer with no e at the end. What adds to his stupidity is that there are white people with the last name of Green. Ashley Green is a model. Gerald Green is a member of the Georgia House of Representatives and he is white. There is also another Gerald Green who is a basketball player and, although he is black, he doesn’t spell his name with an e on the end.

Senator Ford, you are a very stupid. I just thought you should know.
