just a place for me to comment on the very stupid things i discover around the world
I am so sick of Apple! While I have to accept the fact that the company makes good products, I absolutely abhor the control that Steve Jobs wants to have over every facet of the way the products are used. One thing that really bothers me is the rejection of Flash. I understand Steve’s points about Flash, but if I want to drain my battery or waste my time downloading a flash app, that should be my choice! Steve keeps pushing Html5 as the solution to all things currently Flash, but that is so incredibly wrong! Flash does so much more than just basic video display, text changing and rotating and for Steve to not recognize that or care about that makes me sick.
Apple created a showcase that displays some of the things that Html5 can do, but even those samples don’t work fully. Click on this page. If you aren’t using a MAC and a certain version of Safari, the page won’t load. WHAT? Do you mean that the Html5 standard that is supposed to “save” us from Flash doesn’t work unless you have certain things set up in a certain way? Ridiculous!
It wouldn’t have hurt Apple to include Flash support. However, it does hurt anyone who doesn’t understand EXACTLY ALL of the things Flash can do. Adobe is acting like a group of kids right now. They aren’t coming out swinging here. Give us an ad campaign that shows all of the things Flash does. It does sooooo much more than people are giving it credit for. I don’t expect the end users to know everything that it does, but the developers know. Adobe, give me something darnit!!!!
Eliminating Flash from devices is very stupid. Thinking that a specification that isn’t fully written and hasn’t been fully adopted in the same way by all browsers isn’t smart or wise. Apple is concerned with Apple - not with how people deliver content. Html5 might get the job done AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE, but right now it isn’t as full featured as Flash. Thinking otherwise is just very stupid.
