This whole election has really called forth the best and the worst within us. Let’s see what we have here.

  • We have people driving around stealing Obama signs and getting caught on video.
  • We have people walking around stealing McCain signs and not getting caught yet.
  • We have people who have questioned Obama’s patriotism, people who have questioned McCain’s age, people who have questionedPalin’s level of competence and people who have just wondered if Biden can keep his mouth shut long enough to keep his foot out of it.
  • We have people who have created pictures using Obama’s face and foods stereotypically linked to Black people (i.e. fried chicken, watermelon, Kool-Aid…) that have been blatantly racist.
  • We have had people shouting “Kill him” when Obama’s name has been spoken at Republican gatherings.
  • We have had a White woman carve a B into her own face (either you are really crazy to do that or really, really racist) and claim that it was a big Black man, only to later admit that she lied. (Why do White women always blame a Black guy? Susan Smith did this too. Are Black men really that scary??? :-)
  • We have had a politician in western Pennsylvania call his own constituents racists and rednecks.
  • We have had a Minnesota politician say that we should conduct a McCarthy style witch hunt in congress to determine who is pro-American and who is anti-American.
  • We have had Hillary loyalists who refuse to support that MAN who beat her.
  • We have had a rock solid excuse to stay up late on Saturday nights to see Saturday Night Live.
  • We have given Tina Fey a “you betcha” reason to come back to Saturday Night Live.
  • We have had a woman run to become the presidential nominee of a ticket.
  • We have had a Black man run to become the president.
  • We have had a woman run to become the vice presidential nominee of a ticket.
  • We have had a senior citizen run to become the president. (Sorry guys & gals…but he is a senior citizen)
  • We had a guy, “Joe the plumber”,  who called himself an uncommitted voter come out and question Obama about paying higher taxes on a business he was trying to buy because he will be making over $250,000 only to find out that 1) he doesn’t make anywhere near $250,000 as he stated (he makes a little over $40,000K, 2) his boss isn’t selling the business, 3) his real name is Samuel, 4) he owes over $1,000 in back taxes that he HAS NOT paid, 5) he is a registered Republican and has never voted Democrat (so much for uncommitted Joe) and 6, which really is the best, he isn’t even a licensed plumber! He is taking jobs away from all of you licensed plumbers out there who got your certifications and are trying to do things the right way…….
  • We have had a vice presidential nominee who was found to have abused her power as governor
  • We have had more negative attack ads than any of us would care to see.
  • We have had so many more things that I’m going to keep this list going… :-)

And at the end…..we still have a few more days to go. I don’t know about you, but I am ready to “get’er done” and move on. This whole process, while cleansing to the soul, has been one hell of a wild ride. Although I love roller coasters, I, for one, am ready to jump off of this ride. It’s been very, very, very stupid.
