WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE STUPID STUFF GOING ON IN THE WORLD
I’m a little pissed right now. If you read this blog regularly, you probably think that I’m a pretty angry person. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I just use this blog as a way to express some of the things that I don’t say during the course of my everyday life. Sometimes its good to be able to just say that some person or some situation is stupid. In this case, I’m going to complain about the government doing something that I feel is stupid. I have to say that I am really pissed. I’m pissed about the help that the federal reserve is about to give to people facing foreclosure. Why am I pissed? This is supposed to be a good thing right? I am pissed because I pay my damn mortgage on time and I’m not being given a damn thing!! Does that sound selfish?? It might, but why should I get nothing just because I have paid my mortgage on time? Where is the ’stimulus’ for people like me who got a home they could afford, paid their mortgage on time and have ‘just in case’ money in the bank?
The fed is going to help make it easier for people facing foreclosure to get a restructured loan package or reduce the principal amount they owe on their homes. What the fuck???? You mean to tell me that people are going to be able to modify their loans and reduce their principal balance just because they didn’t pay their mortgage while people like me who have been paying their mortgages on time get nothing? Is that fair? I know that some people might think that I’m being an ass, but I really think that there should be modifications for all if there are going to be modifications.
This reminds me of the bad child getting all of the attention. You have two kids. One kid is good and doesn’t act up and one kid is a handful. The kid who is the handful ends up getting the attention while the good kid gets none. In this case, the people who screwed up their situations, for whatever reason, are getting help while those of us who have paid our bills on time don’t get a damn thing. We’ll see how this situation plays out, but not helping those who have done the right thing and only helping the people who didn’t seems mighty stupid to me. Now I know a lot of people are losing their jobs and losing their homes as a result, but I think that any plan to help them has to be balanced in its approach. If those people got into trouble because they couldn’t afford their homes or because they didn’t read the fine print on their mortgage applications, then they need counseling before they get help. If they don’t get that counseling, they will likely end up right back in the same position. That would be very, very stupid indeed!
