I liked the idea of 2 audio outs, with pre-amp, and the fact that it's sold as a 'music production' laptop - which is what I wanted it for. My old desktop is struggling with my virtual guitar amps and soft synths, so I opted for a corei7, 8GB ram powerhouse designed for music... only to discover that I can't use my Firewire audio interface :-( It does have a USB3.0 port - which will, I'm sure, mean much faster audio interfaces will be available to plug in my guitar, mic and midi devices, but no solution for now has left me rather frustrated too. I'm thinking i'll have to sell my lovely Edirol FA-66 firewire audio interface and buy a crappy USB 2.0 one to keep me covered till someone makes a USB 3.0 one. I searched for so long to find something that would give me the production power of a Macbook pro, without being an Apple product, and i thought i'd found it... but am also now disappointed. How can a music-focused laptop not have a firewire interface or express-card slot... crazy. Also 2 days after delivery, my Hard drive died. Had to get a replacement sent out and the support staff were very rude. I just bought the HP Envy 14″ Beats Edition. I have had SO MANY HORRIBLE experiences with my HP Envy! I need to write a follow up post about it. I kept the laptop because of the person who purchased it for me, but that was a bad decision! I can't tell you how horrible this thing has been. Overheating, cutting off, etc..... I came upon this page after just receiving my new HP Envy 14 and having the EXACT same problem trying to connect my camcorder (firewire port) into the computer. The HP I was using before this had a card bus slot which I had to purchase a firewire adapter for - but - at least that allowed me the connection. Now, I'm like where are the ports??
