I just read an interesting article today about politicians who are concerned that their yes votes on health care will come back to haunt them. Some of them are scared that they will be voted out of office because of their ‘YES’ votes on health care. That has to be the most ignorant thing I have ever heard! Why do politicians think that Americans DON’T want a health care system for every citizen?

Minus a few issues, everyone recognizes the need for a health care system that works. Very few people would say that offering health care to every citizen is a bad thing.  In fact, I’m willing to bet that most people wanted it but never thought it was a possibility due to idiotic partisan politics. Most people don’t realize that they are one accident or one major health crisis away from ruin, but a lot of people do realize this. Living paycheck to paycheck, even with health insurance, can often mean the difference between purchasing a necessity and visiting the emergency room when necessary. There are many people who struggle with pain before they visit an emergency room just because they can’t afford the copay or deductible on their insurance. Those people want health care reform. They might not want to fund abortions, but they want health care reform.

This makes me wish I was a political campaign planner. If I was, I would make sure that the message that gets out on my guys ‘Yes’ vote is that he cared enough to make a difference (or she cared enough to make a difference). To all of the politicians out there, don’t be afraid to face your constituents. Make sure that they understand that a ‘Yes’ vote on health care is a vote for them. A healthier America is a better America. I, for one, am glad that the House & the President finally had the heart to stand up and do the right thing on health care for Americans. Other countries have done it. America shouldn’t lag behind on this important issue. Instead of being afraid, put together a commercial with people who have been devastated by a medical incident and then explain how the health care system will benefit them now. That is how you win people over. Put a face on the health care debate so that people understand that this piece of legislation is about helping families avoid disaster.

I don’t know. Maybe I should get into politics so I can show some of these people how it should be done. Nawwwww! Then I would have to stop saying what I feel and that would be very stupid.
