Linda Carty is a woman living on borrowed time. She was convicted in 2001 of organizing the murder of her neighbor, Joana Rodriguez, and kidnapping Joana’s newborn son. Linda Carty, who is 51, was said to have told her husband, Jose Corona, that she was pregnant even though she wasn’t. Jose was about to leave her and the thought is that she told him this to keep him from leaving her. He testified against her during her trial.

According to the information available on the case, Linda Carty coerced three male associates into helping her kill Joana by telling them that they would be able to rob Joana. The intent was to rob Joana and cut the baby from her womb. However, when they got to Joana’s home they discovered that she had already had the baby. They kidnapped both Joana and the baby. The baby was later found safe in a car later on in the day, but Joana was found in the trunk of another vehicle with  her mouth and nose taped shut. She had a plastic bag over her head. She was already dead. The three men were all charged and ended up testifying against Linda. They got jail time, but she is received the death penalty.

Linda Carty’s story was featured on Yahoo. Click here to read the story. Here is the problem I have with this story. Linda’s affect is totally off! She is smiling in the photo for the story. In my opinion, that right there says guilt to me. A woman was bound, gagged and suffocated with a plastic bag over her head. Here newborn baby will never know his mother’s love and this woman is sitting there with a stupid smile on her face? What is wrong with that picture (literally)? You don’t go smiling like that in an article for your appeal. You should appear serious and reflective. I don’t have the death-row-inmate-rules-for-picture-taking book in my pocket, but I certainly wouldn’t be sitting up there grinning like a fool when someone has been killed! I think this woman is so guilty. There is nothing she could say to convince me otherwise after this photo. I may be totally wrong, but her affect is just inappropriate for the situation at hand. She shouldn’t be caught DEAD smiling for a photo while on death row. That’s just my opinion. Her smile, given the gravity of the situation, is just very, very stupid.
